Our discussion focus for the semester is Bonhoeffer’s life and works (The Cost of Discipleship in particular). We are meeting on the first Sunday and the third Saturday of the month at the Swihart farm. For those interested in reading a little more about Dietrich Bonhoeffer, I will be posting selected excerpts from his letters. (Click on “Letter 1” or Letter 2 to the left). I have been posting these selections in German with vocabulary helps on my weblog “Theological German.” I plan to post at least one selection per month of my translations here (maybe one a week for a while).
One key to the letters is a statement (from an excerpt to be posted later) that “I am guided more by an instinctive feeling for the kind of questions that are bound to arise later.” It is important to keep this in mind, because some of the letters raise some disturbing questions.
After reading each selection, you can post your reflections, responses, comments, etc.
